If God Made the Light Before the Sun Where Did Light Come From?
Dear Kids:
When you walk into your room in the evening after dinner, what is the first thing you do?
Well, you probably turn on your light so you can find your toys or schoolbooks. Where does the light come from when you flip the switch on the wall? It comes from electricity. You do not need the Sun to shine in your room all the time, because you have electricity that produces light. In fact, we get light from many places other than the Sun.
Lightning bugs make light, and so do some fish and creatures in the ocean. In Revelation 21:23 we read that heaven ”had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it and the Lamb is its light.” In Heaven it will be daylight forever, but there won’t be a Sun because God and Jesus will light up everything. So we can’t say exactly what kind of light was there on Day One. All we know is that God has always been able to create light without the Sun.
