How Long Did it Take Before Adam and Eve Were Kicked Out of the Garden of Eden?
Dear reader,
No one knows for sure how long Adam and Eve were in the garden. What we do know is that God told Adam and Eve to “be fruitful, and multiply” (Genesis 1:28), meaning that Adam and Eve were supposed to begin having children. We also know from Genesis 4:1-2 that they did not begin having children until after they had left the Garden of Eden. Putting these two verses together, we can see that Adam and Eve were not in the Garden of Eden long enough to have any children. Since it takes about nine months for a human baby to develop, they might have been in the garden for less than a year.
No one can know exactly how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, but it was probably not a very long time. The garden was a beautiful place, but Christians can look forward to an even better place. Christians can look forward to living forever with God in heaven, which is much better than any garden here on Earth, including the Garden of Eden (read Revelation 22:1-5).
