AP Staff Spotlight: Chad Thompson, Advancement Team
If you’ve ever met Chad Thompson, chances are you won’t forget him. Standing at 6 feet 8 inches tall, he’s hard to miss. Yet, what makes Chad stand out isn’t his height—it’s his heart.
I’ve had the privilege of knowing Chad since 1994 when we were 18-year-old freshmen at Freed-Hardeman University. Even back then, it was obvious that Chad was someone special—a genuinely humble, kind, and faithful Christian.
Chad is what you might call a “gentle giant.” He possesses a remarkably meek and gracious spirit. He stands firmly for what is right regardless of circumstances, and even in difficult situations, he demonstrates steady perseverance that reflects deep faith and quiet strength.
For the past 27 years, Chad has served as a physical education teacher in Adamsville, Tennessee. During that time, he has influenced thousands of students—not only through physical activities, but also through mentorship, encouragement, and Christian example.
Chad has also been a valued member of Apologetics Press’ Advancement Team for the past 15 years. Though he is perfectly content serving behind the scenes, he is also eager to step out in public to help advance the work of AP. You will often find him visiting with churches, elderships, and families, sharing why he believes so deeply in AP’s mission and how our materials can help strengthen faith in God and His Word.
Since 2011, many people have come to know Chad best through AP Camp. He has a way of bringing people together with laughter and joy—sometimes by channeling his inner Elf or Napoleon Dynamite. Chad has also served as our legendary camp Sports Director—encouraging campers and introducing countless young people to one of his favorite games: Coneball. Thanks to Chad, thousands of kids (and quite a few parents and grandparents) have discovered the joy of this high-energy, crazy-fun game.
