Wisdom's Corner: The Way

From Issue: Discovery 6/1/2000

Have you ever been lost? Per haps you were with your family on a trip and didn’t have a map of where you were going. After driving around for a while, you might have asked someone for directions. This person might have known, and told you how to get to, where you wanted to go. It is always good to know the way.

In Acts 19:4-9, we read about Paul’s teaching in the synagogue. He was doing a very good job of convincing people to follow Christ. But some people spoke against “the Way.” Later, in verse 23, we are told there was a large disagreement about “the Way.”

Jesus told His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them. They wanted to know how to get to that place. Jesus told them, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). So Jesus is the Way. We can get to heaven only by following His commandments. If we do not follow Him, we will be lost.

In Isaiah 35:8 we read, “A high way shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, al though a fool, shall not go astray.” Study your Bibles. Learn what you must do to travel the Highway of Holiness. You can get to heaven only if you know the Way.
